I know I mentioned in previous post that I am a Twilight fan, and this weekend part one of Breaking Dawn which is the final installment of the the movies came out. So far I've seen it twice....and I want to see it again. For those of you who read my blog and are fans as well, I will not go on about it and ruin it for you but I really liked it.

I am also trying new things with my wardrobe, layering patterns, putting together colors and today was no different. My dad gave me the second eye when I walked into the kitchen wearing this but I liked the monochromatic colors of my outfit.

While my plans are still up in the air, I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving. I will not be participating in the black Friday shopping mess, thank the stars, so good luck to all of you who plan to.

Dog Days Are Over

Seriously, think the weather is playing tricks on NYC, one day it will be 75 and then the next day it will be 55. I am surprised I and half the city hasn't comedown with a cold. I mean I rather have it either all mild or all cold.

Since we did have a cooler day I did take advantage and layered up. I was trying something new since I have this cape and I wanted to know what it's warmth capabilities where. I was going into the city on a chilly/ very windy day (gusts were at 45 mph)  It kept me warm even after giving my scarf to my friend Karen who was looking cute in her new Vegan coat...sorry no pics.

So Karen and I were contemplating whether Time Square or Main street Flushing is worse for walking down a side walk. We agreed Time Square...after pushing through to hit up Sephora and Forever 21. The problem is so many people darting in an out and just stopping in the middle of the sidewalk. Its great that NYC has so many tourists for the economy but seriously for us NYers who know where they are going and don't just stop in the middle of the sidewalk its a hassle.

The title comes from the song Dog Days Are Over by Florence and the Machine, I currently obsessed with their new album Ceremonials. I must say the acoustic version of Heartlines is the best song.

Lands' End Canvas Spring Preview

Last Wednesday I was invited to see the Lands' End Canvas Spring Preview, which was great since I am very familiar with the brand, my family has been ordering their products since the 80's. Unlike their regular items that Lands' End carries, their canvas line has a hip everyday wear vibe.

The set up for their preview had a travel theme, from cafes, bike shops and flea markets in Paris to a road trip, a wedding in Napa Valley and surfing on the beach  all in California. With little surprises as anchors motifs and men's ties that used a crochet knit and a bicycle print.

Lands' End is also sponsoring the music group the Wandas who performed at the event.

I must thank Lands' End for the wonderful gift I got to take home

Birthday Gifts

This year, I cannot say I had the best birthday ever but I did make the best of it, when life hands you melted brown sugar, syrup and cinnamon you make caramel. <----- Long story but lets just say I made a famous caramel candy.

While I don't ask for much and usually feel bad after I get gifts, I did get some nice ones from my two friends Karen and David and a nice gift from my mom. And as every year, I got myself a gift.

Thank you Mom, Karen and David...this post is dedicated to you. All of you are always giving me things all throughout the year and I am thankful for you. Love you! XXOO

Keeping It Real

As a blogger I  figured it would be a requirement to do a birthday post since it is my birthday. Yes Happy Birthday to me!! Unfortunatly I do not have an outfit post for you guys but I have thought long and hard all day what I can post about today for my birthday.

Have you ever though that you would be doing what you do or liking what you like now 10 years ago. Ok I confused you, right? Let me put this way, My 22 year old self would think my 32 year old self is probably a self centered dork. The self centered part would be mostly about my blogging and such, but the dork part, let me explain.

I am a dork, I dress like a dork, I enjoy dorky things but hey that's me! I'm going to be real here: you can laugh all you want at the end.

#1. I am seriously obsessed with the Transformers franchise, whether it involves the movies, the stories,  the toys or the old cartoons. I have a major crush on Optimus Prime. No Joke.

#2. I rather stay home curl up in bed with a good book and herbal tea, than hang out.

A weekend routine that can't go wrong...

#3. Speaking of reading, I read fanfiction. Fanfiction if you don't know are stories based on books, movies, characters that writers have taken a different spin on or continued a series that has ended to their own liking.   Check out fanfiction.net here for stories. The fanfiction I read are from stories like Twilight, True Blood, and Transformers to name a few. I have to say that some of the writers of fanfiction are far better than more famous publish writers today.

#4. Speaking of Twilight, I really do like Twilight. I love the movies and I totally have a crush on Edward/ Robert Pattinson. I probably have see the movies more than 40 times. I really don't feel so dorky on this one since I know women twice my age that are even worse with their obsessions.

5. I listen to music of all kinds, from pop to indie rock. Yeah sure I love Kings of Leon and Adele but my true loves are Opera and Doo Wop. I really can listen to both of those all day long. And if I am home on a Saturday night there is a program from a local university that comes on from 12 am - 2am that plays all Doo Wop.

Please Be Mine - Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers

Sempre Libera (from La Triviata) - Joan Sutherland
My favorite Opera and singer who I happen to share a birthday with.

I am sure there is more dorkiness about me that I can't think of right now but I am sure my friends can tell you all about it if you ask them.

Mountain and the Sea

The whole point for me to go to California in the first place was for a wedding and not for being a tourist, right? Well I got to do both. I must say the wedding was beautiful as well as the reception and I managed to get a few shots of what I wore while the beautiful couple were doing their shots.

H&M- Dress
Bakers - Shoes (My favorite pair I've had since 2006)
added blue sash
Covergirl Spellbound Lipstick

H&M - flower clip
Aldo - Ring

I thought to add this ribbon to my dress to give it shape
Ray-Ban - sunglasses
Anne Kline - watch
F21 - misc bracelets
Vintage bag
diamond ring

On our last day in Los Angeles, David and I hit up The Grove which is an outdoor mall. The Grove has a nice trolley running down the middle of it and a nice farmers market at one end. It was a great place to people watch, shop, dine and I even caught a glimpse of AC Slater... I mean Mario Lopez finishing up Extra.

After the Grove we drove through Beverly Hills and stopped at the Beverly Hills sign for a couple of pictures.

Purple tee
Vintage skirt (bought back in 2002 and shortened)
Target - yellow wedges
Coach - black satchel

Bracelets - Express and Ippolita
Tokidoki - watch
diamond ring

After taking a few wrong turns through Topanga Canyon we made our way to the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) which we took south along the coast. We we dissapointed because as we were driving down the PCH the marine layer fog was thick and heavy and we were driving down to Venice beach to see the sunset. In the three times I've been to California I never got to see the sunset.

I love little back alleyways like this.

Luckily as you can see, by the time we got to Venice beach the skies cleared and I finally got to see my sunset.

Time to go home to NYC!
Until the next time in California.

(Blog title is from the Ingrid Michaelson song Mountain and the Sea.)
