Fresh Face Friday: Beauty Products

I know I don't ever do beauty posts, mainly because I don't wear much makeup everyday and I just do the basics when it comes to taking care of my body beauty wise. But I recently had a bout of some kind of rash or eczema on my face (don't know because it went away by itself) so I been trying to keep products use at a minimum. But there are main stays that I use when taking care and styling myself. I can tell you that I have huge pores, combo skin on the face and very dry splitty ended thin hair. Nobody is perfect and I am not going to be the first to claim that title.

As far as my face is concerned I hardly ever wear foundation or concealer. I stick to mascara, eyeliner, brow filler and the occasional lipstick for everyday, I add eyeshadow and some blush for special occasions. I wash my face 2x a day and lotion it with an SPF lotion in the morning and a light lotion at night. My hair has to be washed everyday otherwise its a nasty oily-roots mess. I don't flatiron it because its naturally pin straight but I do use a stick curler for some waves. But I don't add hairspray, instead I use a salt spray. My body skin gets a nice coating of baby oil right out of the shower which is great for soothing freshly shaved legs and the coco butter is somewhat minimizing a large  abdomen (exactly like a cesarian) scar from 2 years ago.

I keep it simple that way my sensitive skin doesn't get back at me and throw a nasty pimple at me at an inopportune time. ;) Instead my skin rewards me by making my 32 year old face free of fine lines so I can look like I'm in my early 20's as people tell me I look. (how long will it last?)

For The Love

Went to one of my favorite bands Blue October concert earlier this month with David.
This was my second time seeing them (I saw them back in October '11) and I absolutely love them.

My title comes from one of their songs:

For The Love:

I do it for the love. I do it for the rain.
I do it for the passion, do it for the pain.
I do it for the rush. I do it for the doubt.
I do it for my daughter, man, cuz she's what I'm about.
I do it for my mom, do it for my dad.
I do it for my sanity, it's hangin' from a thread.
I do it for the audience who understands the need.
Stand it on the stage, cut the shit and let it bleed.

So pack it up, pack it in, write it up, write it down.
Just remember that I told you it's what I'm all about.

Wild Horses

Just a simple outfit post from the weekend. I actually wore this twice last weekend, but does it count when I wore it for an hour one day and I never even left the room? No one saw it until Sunday when I made a lasagna. You know when you make something good people come out of the cracks to eat.

white tee, Forever 21 jeans, vintage scarf, Asos clutch, western Mary-Janes (old)

Belle de Jour

Please excuse me as I have become way behind in my posts. It seems that when I have all the time in the world, I have no where to go, no one to take my outfit shots or nothing to post about. This is not the situation in the past few weeks, I have been running around (fabulous looking of course) at work (looking not so fab) and at home. Last week I had to do the run for work which involves driving all over Queens and Brooklyn in the morning making deliveries and pickups at my jobs other plants and then doing the mail and banks run in the afternoon on top of doing my own work. Lucky for me there was no traffic due to the holidays and I also spotted Heather from Fashionista New York Girl on my run. By the way check Heather out in Marie Claire's May issue ( I spotted her there too the same day!)

Ok Im rambling....

I was feeling kinda French (despite my name Im not even close to being French) mid-week and broke this outfit out on Thursday when I went to a blogger fashion show in the city. You may have seen this outfit on Instagram months ago but I never wore it out of my house.  I just love using my regular pieces in my wardrobe to make a look that goes with a feeling.

Zion Traveler

I hope that everyone had a great Easter stuffing your faces with Peeps and such. I had a great weekend celebrating a friend's birthday at Citi Field (where the NY Mets play) and at the stadium bar McFadden's on Saturday. And Sunday I was supposed to go to the NY Auto Show, but I woke up tired and my head hurting from the sunburn I got from the game. I did end up spending time at my house watching both the Yankees and the Mets games with David and we went out after the games were over with his family to a neighborhood Italian restaurant.

Its been absolutely windy and dry these past 4 days and my hair and skin have been feeling it. As far as my hair i've been using leave in conditioners like crazy but they aren't working, I need to find something quick. My skin is a different situation, it seems that I have developed a rash on my cheek that flares up here and there, Im worried that I may have developed eczema. I think a trip to the dermatologist is in order. Ugggh you'd think at 32 years old my hair and body would just be normal, I just think its getting worse.

Gilded Pastel

As you remember from a previous post that I received an Essie's Luxeffects nail polish in my Birchbox. Well I decided to use it this week to coincide with one of my outfits and Easter. The funny thing is I realized the base color I used which is a pastel lavender color made my nails match my Macbook Air's keyboard cover that I got from my friend Karen for Christmas perfectly.

Essie's Luxeffects "A Cut Above" and Bangle Jangle

For those who wanna know, my hands were dry and the bottles were sealed before I put them anywhere near my Macbook.

Hashiwokakero

Happy April all! Summer is around the corner, not yet though.  I wanted to wear my cape one last time before I store it for the summer and this week has been kinda chilly enough to, kinda. Ended up taking it off after walking 2 blocks to meet David, David also said I was wearing to many layers. I am also getting to show you my Rebecca Minkoff leopard print pony hair satchel that I won in a drawing back in November from Lucky Magazine. I have used it a lot, in fact more as a bag to carry my Macbook Air since it fits perfectly.  I love it.

Asos cape, Gap jean jacket and sweater, Old Navy jeans, Dolce Vita boots via TJ Maxx, Rebbeca Minkoff Covet satchel, Ray-Ban Wayfarer, wool drivers cap via TJ Maxx, street vendor scarf

This cape is so fun and since I was at my local playground surrounded by running screaming children I thought I'd have fun.

Ready? 1... 2... 3.... JUMP!!

Speaking of playing my title Hashiwokakero "Make bridges" is a Japanese puzzle game to make bridges with chopsticks or lines if drawn out. I just want to say that I tried to play it back many moons ago and failed miserably, I wouldn't even know how to play now.
