Life As Art

I know its close to the end of the month so I just wanted to post a few outfits from a few places that I went since the beginning of June.

The girls and I went the Shaparelli vs Prada exhibit at the Met, had a meeting/graduation party at the Tip or Skip offices and attended the Prince Magazine Royal Launch Party.

Calm Waters

 Was out on the island again this month and took a little detour after picking up David at the train station and went out to the Osyter Bay marina. Seriously difficult to find a dock that wasn't taken by other people taking their prom/ wedding/ engagement photos. It was a popular site for photos that time since it was a perfect day after a week of rain and the sunset was absolutely gorgeous. 

I literally took this outfit from the page of the master of outfits herself Wendy of Wendy's Lookbook. I had this top and skirt kinda piled together when I saw her outfit pinned on Pinterest and I knew asap I had to recreate it my own way. I decided on a skirt rather than her leather shorts and a 3/4 sleeve top rather than her button-up blouse. Hopefully though I did the outfit redo justice. I just love browsing other bloggers' blogs for outfit inspirations.

Angles of the Freedom Tower

Happy June 1st and TGIF everyone! I hope everyone gets to have a nice weekend coming up, I know I will. Ive got a a full weekend of museum exhibits and flea markets see.

Last weekend was Memorial day weekend and if you read my previous post you'll see what I did on Saturday, spending it in the city in Union Square. But on Sunday since it was so hot I decided to stay in and change over my winter wardrobe to my summer wardrobe, I have to do this in the fall and summer since I have one tiny closet. I was so happy when I discovered that all my summer clothes are loose on me.

On Memorial day itself I was dying to get to the waterfront here in NYC because of Fleet Week, but I was mostly disappointed because when I did get there I didn't see the Hudson or the East rivers filled with any tall ships or misc military ships like in previous years. But I did get to enjoy my walk around the bottom half of Manhattan island. I got to see the Freedom Tower (suprizingly because of how I started my walk I saw all four views of it.)  The Freedom Tower floors were just finished at the end of April but it is still missing its radio tower to bring it to its full height.

If you do decide you want to do what I did and walk all the way around the lower tip of Manhattan, the best place to start is on the west side at Chambers Street and walk all along the river in the park and come back up via Water Street and end at the South Street Seaport. There are plenty of places to rest, see views,  eat, use restrooms, visit memorials and museums (Jewish Museum, Castle Clinton, and the Museum of the American Indian etc..) You can also bring your bike and dogs if you want to as well because there is a bike path and greenways along the water.

Castle Clinton (not really a castle but a fort from the War of 1812 use to protect fighters and guns to fight the British) This fort used be surrounded by water but water line was filled in to extend the tip of Manhattan island, so now its about 100 feet from the water.

The South Street Seaport and the old Fulton fish market, now restaurants, museums and retail stores. 

An old high pressure fire hydrant thats not in use any more. Firefighters didn't have to hook up a firetruck to this since the water supplying it was under high pressure hence the name.
