Took a trip this past Saturday to upstate NY and on the way my friend David and I made a few stops including an over look that is perched off a side of a mountain. With a solid granite wall with frozen waterfalls of snowmelt on one side and a view for miles onto a valley and other mountains in the distance, it is a great place to remember that there is more than the hustle and bustle of NYC. Located in Rockland County just an hour outside of NYC the bear mountains provide the tranquility that even the most hardened city dwellers need, including yours truly.
Almost every weekend in the summer when I was younger my family would take a trip into these mountains and go to the state parks in these mountains. We'd even come up here to shop at the outlets that David stopped at and in the fall come apple and pumpkin picking. Oh and by the way when David and I were hanging on his sisters porch that night we witnessed the most amazing shooting star....hope my wish comes true.
